Measuring Economic Development and Carbon Dioxide Emissions Inefficiency

چکیده
Excessive emissions of greenhouse gases have exacerbated global climate change, and the use fossil fuels is main reason for rapid rise CO 2 in atmosphere. In this study, stochastic frontier analysis employed to measure causal relationship between GDP growth fuel inefficiency APEC member economies. The empirical results revealed a significant positive correlation them found that economies with high per capita GDP, such as Singapore, effectively mitigate emissions. This result income standards lead emphasis on environmental protection. Economic and Environmental Factors Determining the Amount of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the MENA Countries
Abstract: The gradual warming of the earth and its negative environmental and economic impacts contributed to pay attention to sustainable development considerably. Since climate change is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, countries are seeking to prevent the rapid growth of emissions to reduce global climate change. Accordingly, and considering the importance of the sub...
متن کاملReducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions
DEBATE ABOUT the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, and fears that it will result in an intensification of the Greenhouse Effect and global warming, have spurred consideration of sustainable development. It has been claimed that technology to improve energy efficiency already exists that is cost-effective without consideration of the gains from abatement of carb...
متن کاملSequestration of Carbon Dioxide Emissions
Background The world's oceans represent the largest potential sink for the carbon dioxide (CO 2) produced by human activities (anthropogenic CO 2). Already oceans contain the equivalent of an estimated 140,000 gigatons of CO 2. The ocean's natural carbon transfer processes span of thousands of years and will eventually transfer 80-90 percent of today's man-made CO 2 emissions to the deep ocean....
متن کاملAccounting for Carbon Dioxide Emissions
It is an adage of accounting to monitor what you can measure but there is concern that some elements can potentially be very important yet very difficult to evaluate. There are now many who care about accounting for CO2 emissions: from scientists interested in the global carbon cycle to environmentalists concerned about global climate change, regulators overseeing international or subnational a...
متن کاملClimate trade-off between black carbon and carbon dioxide emissions
There are various difficulties involved with comparing the effects of short-lived and long-lived atmospheric species on climate. Global warming potentials (GWPs) can be computed for pulse emissions of short-lived species. However, if the focus is on the long-term effect of a pulse emission occurring today, GWPs do not factor in the fact that if a radiative forcing is applied for a short period,...
